How to Determine Your Values, Discover Your Purpose, and Unleash Your Inner Greatness

How I identified my highest values, aligned my life, unleashed my own greatness, and learned how to never work a day in my life!

Dr. John Demartini is a world-renowned specialist in human behavior, a researcher, author, global educator, and a personal friend of mine.

After taking his Values Test, I had a massive epiphany! I realized 3 things in a matter of minutes:

  1. Health is the most important thing in the world to me
  2. Why I would get angry inside and judge people who were overweight
  3. Why my dad perceived me as non-hard worker

1) Health is the most important thing in the world to me

Realizing this, I was able to identify the reasons driving my emotions I would feel when I ate unhealthy or do something bad for my health. I also realized that no amount of money in world can substitute for how important my health is to me.

These reactions started when I had a knee surgery and was stuck on the couch for weeks. When I started realizing that Health is Wealth, I told myself if somebody offered me 1 million dollars OR the ability to go for a run, I would choose the run 10/10 times.

After taking Dr. John Demartini's Values Test, I felt like everything began to make sense.

2) Why I would get angry inside and judge people who were overweight

Before taking the Values Test, I didn't understand why I would feel this anger towards people who were overweight and it would in turn make me so angry at myself for judging them!

When I discovered health was one of my highest values, I made the connection that my anger was really towards myself. If I became overweight, I would judge and be angry with MYSELF!

Further realizing the reasons driving my emotions helped me gain control over my mentality and behavior. In that very moment of self discovery, I made a commitment to stop judging overweight people and start helping them see their health as their greatest wealth too!

"Be the change you want to see in the world" is the motto I am living by. My goal is to practice what I preach, lead by example, and help all people take command of their health! #HealthIsWealth

3) Why my dad perceived me as non-hard worker

A few months prior to taking the Values Test, my dad told me over sushi that he thought one of my weaknesses was that I am not a hard worker (full disclosure: I wasn't aware of this at the time and asked my dad to tell me my biggest weakness because I was still trying to grow and Be Better).

When he said I wasn't a hard worker, I felt hurt inside. It's true, though, to an extent! I wasn't working that hard at his law firm, but I WAS working hard for several hours a day in the gym. I hadn't yet connected the dots that I wasn't aligned fully with my work.

After taking the Values Test, the light bulb went off for me and I told myself: "Since I am working hard for several hours a day in the gym, if I could make money working out and helping inspire others to be healthier, I would be living my dreams!"

I realized that the reason I wasn't working super hard at my dad's law firm was because I wasn't inspired by it, but I was feeling inspired to re-align my life and career around health and fitness! It meant I would be doing what I love and loving what I do and wouldn't have to work a day in my life!

My take-away from this story for you is:

When you align your life and business around your highest values, you naturally free your inner greatness! If you have not yet discovered your highest values, I recommend taking Dr. Demartini's Values Test here!
